Former UFC champion and presidential candidate of Ireland, Conor McGregor, has just called for the establishment of a strategic Bitcoin reserve fund for the country. On May 30, he posted on X that Ireland will not "miss the opportunity" like Germany, while tagging El Salvador President Nayib Bukele with the message: "Let's talk."

Previously, McGregor stated that Bitcoin could return "power to the people's currency" and committed to bringing this issue into public policy.

Inspired by El Salvador, McGregor wants to make Ireland the next country to adopt Bitcoin at the state level. However, the major barrier is that Ireland still operates within the EU financial framework.

His campaign is attracting the attention of the global cryptocurrency community and promises to heat up the presidential race expected to take place before November 11.
