Metaplanet surpasses El Salvador's holdings of "Bitcoin Nation" with an additional purchase of 1241 BTC

Metaplanet, which is advancing its Bitcoin (BTC) holdings strategy, announced on May 12 that it had purchased an additional 1241 BTC. As a result, the company's total Bitcoin holdings have reached 6796 BTC, and the cumulative purchase amount to date has reached approximately 90.19 billion yen.

According to the site "Bitcoin Treasuries" that tracks Bitcoin holdings by countries and companies, the holdings of Metaverse have surpassed the 6174 BTC of El Salvador, located in Central America, which shocked the world when President Nayib Bukele made Bitcoin legal tender in 2021.

The company's CEO Simon Gerovich commented on his X, "MetaPlanet's Bitcoin Holdings have finally surpassed those of El Salvador. It started from a small step and has now grown to a scale comparable to that of a nation. This is just the beginning."

According to Bitcoin Treasuries, the country that holds the most Bitcoin is the United States, with an amount of 198012 BTC. Bhutan, holding 12062 BTC, is ranked just above El Salvador.
